Director of Community Outreach



Matt Freije is the Director of Community Outreach for fountain City FC.  

Matt is originally from Indianapolis and has lived in Kansas City for the majority of his life.  He has been involved in the soccer community as a player, referee and coach.  In 1998, he graduated from Shawnee Mission West and shortly after completed his Associates Degree from JCCC.  Coach Matt played high school soccer at SMW and was a 2 year varsity letter winner and starter.  During his Senior year, he was named All Tournament First Team in the Top Dog Tournament.  

Matt has coached High School soccer at SMW as the Varsity Assistant Girls Coach, as well as Assistant Women's Coach at Emporia State University under Conference Coach of the Year winner, Ivan Huntoon.  He is proud to have coached talented players who have gone on to play D1 and D2 college soccer.  On the club level, Coach Matt spent 3 years coaching with Global FC's U12, U13 and U18 boys teams.  He was named Coach of the Year 2x at GFC. 

During the day, Matt works for Apria Healthcare as well as GABL/KCFC.  Coach Matt currently holds a USSF National D License.
